Events Roundup is a Technical.ly column in which we highlight events happening in the D.C. area each month. Got a submission? Email us at dc@technical.ly so we can consider it for our next roundup.
Right around this time last year, local folks were starting to realize that this coronavirus thing was a pretty big deal. Major conferences such as South by Southwest and the national Code for America summit were canceled; local events started moving online or being postponed.
At Technical.ly, we made the call on March 12, 2020, to cancel the planned NET/WORK DC hiring fair scheduled for the 24th. Obviously, an IRL event this March is still out. So, we’re hosting the next best thing.
Technical.ly’s annual tech jobs fair is virtual this year, and for a pretty nice price tag: totally free. We’re including folks who are hiring from all of the communities we report on daily — and remote-only jobs will be on view, too. You’ll have a chance to engage with 30+ companies hiring for more than 200 roles. The hiring companies specialize in the likes of ecommerce, big data, gaming, sports betting, software development, retail, marketing and sales. We have confirmed some of the biggest tech teams you already know such as Comcast (Philadelphia), Axios (D.C.) and CareFirst (Maryland), as well as growth-stage companies like Crossbeam (Philadelphia), Ordway (D.C.) and SmartLogic (Baltimore).
It’s happening Thursday, March 18, from noon to 6 p.m. ET, with specified time slots for companies located in different regions:
- Noon to 2 p.m. — Pennsylvania and Delaware companies (especially the Philly and Pittsburgh metro areas)
- 2 to 4 p.m. — Remote opportunities
- 4 to 6 p.m. — D.C., Maryland and Virginia companies (including Baltimore and the surrounding area)
