On Monday, the U.S. opened the COVID-19 vaccine rollout to anyone 16 or older, following suit with states that had done so in the last few weeks.

Philadelphia jumped on the train last week, and has since been offering walk-up appointments at its FEMA clinics at the Convention Center and the Esperanza Community Vaccination Center, plus appointments across 270 sites in the city.

As of last week, you can also now directly set up an appointment through the City of Philadelphia for the COVID-19 vaccine versus being contacted by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Check out a list of dates, locations and available appointments here for the rest of the month. This weekend, for instance, you can go get a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Esperanza on Saturday or Sunday. Hundreds of appointments are still available.

Plus, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium is running a walk-up event, the Philly Vax Jawn, at the Dell Music Center in Fairmount Park Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Founder and director Dr. Ala Stanford encourages folks to come get vaccinated while they enjoy some live music. Plus — the event is offering free rides to and from with Uber up to $25 with the code 10MVBDC.

“We especially want to get our Black and brown communities,” she said. “If you are breathing and you haven’t been vaccinated, you need to come out.”

And while sometimes Twitter can be a dumpster fire of a place, there’s been nothing making this reporter happier in recent weeks than seeing people share their vaccine experiences. Let’s run toward herd immunity, ya’ll!

This jawn hits different, some may say.

And a lovely reminder to thank the medical staff who have been putting shots in arms for months now.

Even video game villains are no match to the feeling of relief after that second dose is down.

If Gritty’s on board, then I’m on board.

Someone who works for the health department is clearly a TikToker.

And hey, if you’re still getting calls and emails from the city, but you’ve already got your shots, Director of Innovation Eliza Pollack has some advice on what to do:
