The prodigal sons return: the Pennovation Center announced Thursday that BioBots — the biotech company founded in 2014 by Penn grads Danny Cabrera and Ricardo Solorzano — is moving the company’s HQ to the Grays Ferry research hub.

Cabrera said the move from the company’s old space at the Science Center has to with a better cultural fit and possibilities for expansion. Per Cabrera, all is well with the Science Center, but the move to Pennovation just made more sense with the company’s timing.

“We are excited to move our headquarters to Pennovation and be part of this inventive new community,” Solorzano said in a press release. “This space has the unique combination of Penn Engineering’s robots on the third floor, brand new biology labs on the second, and a group of hustler entrepreneurs on the first. We are eager to see the space grow, and looking forward to being a part of it.”

BioBots’ team of 10 will take one of the five contiguous garages along the building’s eastern façade, joining rising star COSY, which also holds a garage space and recently raised a $2.3 million seed round.
