Mayor Michael Nutter welcomed Brand.com, the latest company in year-long slate of tech firms opening city-bound offices, at a ribbon cutting yesterday. Technically Philly first told you about the move in July.
Nutter’s schedule has become full of satellite office openings and relocation press events for tech and creative firms, fitting a national trend and aiming to impact the business climate criticism that is regular small talk among entrepreneurs here. It’s an expansion trend that some see as a clear output of tax incentives from the top, while others might point to community growth at the bottom — in truth, it’s likely somewhere in the middle.
Brand.com, previously based in Westchester, Pa., made headlines last month when it bought the domain Brand.com for a “mid-six figure price.” The company used to be called Reputation Changer and offers a suite of services to manage what is being said about your organization online.
CEO Mike Zammuto moved his 120 employees to a new Washington Square office in hopes of tapping Philadelphia’s talent pool. He plans on hiring 100 employees this year.
