If it’s summer, it must be Geek season.
This year’s Philly Geek Awards will be held on Sat., August 17 at the Academy of Natural Sciences, and the folks over at Geekadelphia.com who run the annual awards ceremony are looking for nominations.
The team has received more than 400 nominations across 14 categories but it’s still looking for more nominations in these categories, many of which are probably in your wheelhouse:
- Hacker of the Year
- Indie Game of the Year [This year, this category isn’t limited to video games, said organizer Michelangelo Ilagan. Feel free to nominate non-digital games.]
- Scientist of the Year
- Mobile App of the Year [Says Ilagan: “We had to unfortunately cut the category last year due to little feedback from the community. This year, we’ve reinstated it because we really want it to be a part of the awards but once again we’re not getting much attention around it. People in Philly *have* to be doing cool non-game related things in the mobile space. We’re accepting native apps for any platform (iOS, Android, etc.) and really good web apps are also acceptable.”]
The Geekadelphia team is also looking for sponsors for the event. Get more info here.
Look out for tickets in late July and find our previous coverage of the event here.-30-
