Red Bull Amaphiko is returning to Baltimore this summer

A three-day social innovation festival is scheduled for Aug. 17-19.

After holding its first U.S. Academy program for social entrepreneurs in Baltimore last summer, Red Bull Amaphiko is planning another event series in the city this summer.

The Red Bull Amaphiko Festival is scheduled for Aug. 17-19, with three public events currently planned. The focus is on creativity, culture and the arts, Here’s the schedule, according to organizers:

  • The Medicine Show, a night of “social innovation storytelling” featuring a host of Baltimore entrepreneurs and artists, set for Aug. 17 at Arena Players.
  • Luv’s Art Project Block Party, a Saturday afternoon celebration on Aug. 18 featuring performances by DJ Diamond Kuts, TT The Artist, DJ Trillnatured.
  • The Sunday Summit, an all-day series on Aug. 19 featuring conversations and performances at Station North spots including Impact Hub, Motor House and YNot Lot. Programming will be curated by Motor House, Impact Hub, Pipe Dreamz, ArtsCentric, GRL PWR and other Baltimore event organizers.

After holding similar events in South Africa and Brazil, Amaphiko tapped Baltimore as the base for its first stateside Academy program in 2017, providing resources and programming for 14 social entrepreneurs. The class included six entrepreneurs from Baltimore, who will be involved in this year’s event.
