MICA is looking to help creative ideas become businesses.
The college’s Up/Start Venture Competition is back for a second year. It was opened up to startups comprised of current seniors or 2016 alumni (applications are closed). MICA is looking to dole out a total of $100,000 in investment for up to five companies. Funding is provided by a grant from the Philip E. and Carol R. Ratcliffe Foundation.
The first round is a “pop-up and pitch” night on Feb. 3. From there, the top eight ideas get to the next round, where they will receive mentoring. They’ll make a complete pitch to judges at the finale on April 13.
