Legal and tech minds now have a place to share ideas in Baltimore.
The Baltimore Legal Hackers Meetup is set for its first gathering on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Ryleigh’s in Mt. Vernon.

The meetup’s roots show the exchange that can take place. Technologist (and Technical.ly contributor) Jason Tashea and University of Baltimore law professor Colin Starger started meeting in their own free time to talk legal tech.
“Starting this chapter is our hope to build a larger, diverse, and inclusive community in Baltimore around issues of access to justice, technology, and the law,” Tashea said via email.
It’s an area where there’s already been recognition that Baltimore could benefit from creative ideas. We’ve seen app ideas around expungement, and there’s no shortage of conversation in town around tech and law enforcement with the reform that will be prescribed for the police department, as well as use of devices like the stingray and the wide-area aerial surveillance that was exposed last week.
