We’re still a couple of seasons away from Baltimore Innovation Week (more on that soon), but we’re with details on another big gathering of local tech communities happening right away. Philly Tech Week, which is Technical.ly’s oldest and largest event, is happening April 27-May 5.
This year, it features a one-day conference bringing together all Technical.ly markets. Introduced will be held May 3 at the Science History Institute in Philadelphia.

Introduced is something new for PTW, a “choose your own adventure” organized into three rooms of simultaneous programming covering three themes. Stick with one track, or mix it up:
- GROW (Tracks: Business & Sciences)
- MESSAGE (Tracks: Media & Creative)
- IMPACT (Tracks: Civic & Access)
Why head to a local gathering of the tech community when there’s already one in Baltimore? It’s not that far away, and it can help expand your regional network. Not just between Baltimore and Philly, but our other markets including D.C., Delaware and Brooklyn, too.
And there will be some familiar faces from the Baltimore tech community will be featured among the 24 panel discussions. Here’s a look at the sessions featuring Baltimore leaders:
- Growing Your Startup Outside of Silicon Valley: Yet Analytics cofounder and CXO Margaret Roth joins a panel of five realLIST founders from Mid-Atlantic tech communities to talk about building a company on the East Coast, and explore how cities can support startups.
- Company Responsibility: #MeToo, BLM and Polarization: Hungry Harvest Founder and CEO Evan Lutz joins a discussion on the movements reshaping society, and how employers can create healthier work environments.
- Beyond the “Startup Bro”: The Future of Founders: Black Girl Ventures Founder Shelly Bell recently expanded into Baltimore. She will join a panel that features Arlan Hamilton of Backstage Capital to discuss what individuals, companies, investors and current founders do to encourage more people of color and women to start their own ventures, and ensure they get the support that’s needed.
- Innovations in Healthcare: Fake Wombs, Cancer Studies and More: Sisu Global Health cofounder and CTO Gillian Henker joins two other scientists to offer case studies on their work, and the discoveries they’ve made along the way.
- Inside the Deal: A Conversation With Founders and Investors: Mindgrub Technologies President and CEO Todd Marks joins a panel of founders and investors to explore the process of seeking funding for a startup, whether it’s through venture capital or not.
- Amazon HQ2: The Good, The Bad and the Misunderstood: Shannon Landwehr, the President and CEO of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, joins with stakeholders who bid for the tech giant’s massive expansion to discuss how proposals came together, and what it will mean for cities.
In addition to the panels, Introduced will feature a rotating demo floor and curated introductions, where you can:
- Meet and get advice from founders.
- Pitch your product or service to purchasing reps from large companies, including Amtrak, QVC and Wawa.
- Pitch a demo for feedback from investors including Comcast Ventures, New Spring Capital and Robin Hood Ventures.
(Important note: These curated meetings require application. You must register for Introduced by April 25 to apply.)
The full-day event costs $100 ($125 after April 25), with discounts for bulk tickets and sponsor of scholarship tickets. If you can’t afford the $100, you can request a scholarship ticket on the RSVP page.
