If you’re feeling unmotivated in the middle of a summer of travel restrictions and lockdowns, the Great Dames Powerful Conversations series has a webinar to get you going on Monday, July 13: “Turning Adversity into Advantage” featuring Wilmington’s Allison T. Garrett, founder of the motivational program Prison Break Coach.

Garrett overcame an abusive past, drug addiction and prison, where, without guidance, she developed her own method of recovery to “rediscover the extraordinary woman within.” She is a published author, speaker and entrepreneur.

Garrett’s webinar on July 13 will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Zoom.

Also in July, Dr. Angela Wright Marshall, founder of Comprehensive Women’s Health, Inc., will present the Great Dames Powerful Conversation webinar “Dismissed: How Race, Gender & Culture Bias is Destroying the Health of Americans.”

Dr. Marshall, a primary care physician in D.C., will explore why medicine for most Americans lacks justice and is inequitable, and how surviving COVID-19 has much to do with race, gender and other cultural factors. Her research reveals the healthcare disparities in diagnosis and treatment for women, African Americans, Latinx and members of the LGBTQ community.

The “Dismissed” event will take place on Tuesday, July 28 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Zoom.

Non-members can access each of these virtual events with a $10 minimum donation.
