It’s been two years of Downtown detours and traffic headaches, but the new Residences of Mid-Town Park are finally finished: Five floors of apartments, communal areas and an outdoor “oasis” with a pool, right in downtown Wilmington.
“If people don’t live [Downtown], it becomes a daytime place where people pick up and leave at night,” said Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki at the Thursday afternoon ribbon cutting. “It animates the town 24 hours a day. That’s what we need.”
The Buccini/Pollin Group’s $75 Million apartment complex and parking garage is just one of the real estate developer’s many investments in Downtown Wilmington in recent years, including the 76ers Fieldhouse, the DuPont Building and DECO food hall, and The Mill coworking space.
Speakers included Buccini/Pollin Group co-president Robert Buccini, Wilmington City Council President Hanifa Shabazz and Governor John Carney.

Once the ribbon was cut, attendees were let into the new building – which started renting to residents earlier in the summer – to tour the model units and communal space.
With rent for an efficiency starting at $1,100 to around $1,800 for a two bedroom, these are pricey apartments, aimed at young professionals who work downtown. The premium rent comes with some sweet amenities, though: including a communal work space and a conference room, which could potentially save on the cost of joining a coworking space for some. There’s a game room with a pool table, a small screening room, a kitchen, a couple of lounges, and that chill outdoor area.
For non-residents, the new building is a major revitalization of a block that sat as a run-down parking lot for decades. An additional amenity, the WilminGo golf cart taxi service, was also unveiled at the ribbon cutting. That service that will be available to the public.
