It’s officially President Donald Trump’s last day in the White House as the nation gears up to welcome a new leadership team. If you feel inclined to take a stroll down memory lane, check out Trump’s inaugural address four years ago.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be sworn into office tomorrow, Jan. 20, and this is a moment you won’t want to miss. Here’s a few places you can catch Inauguration Day 2021:
- Major news outlets including CNN, ABC will be broadcasting the event and livestreaming it online along with other outlets like The Washington Post, NPR and The New York Times.
- The Presidential Inauguration Committee’s social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch will be livestreaming the day’s events.
- If you’re more interested in some written reporting about Inauguration Day, tune into local outlets like DCist, Washingtonian and Washington City Paper for some local day-of coverage.
Following the insurrection on Jan. 6, much of D.C. has been on lockdown and the National Mall has even been closed through inauguration events. Let us also not forget that we are still fighting the coronavirus pandemic. Mayor Muriel Bowser has extended the indoor dining ban and other phase 2 activities through Jan. 22, an order that was suppose to be lifted on Jan.15, to ensure public health and safety through this week. Bowser also issued a 15-day public emergency in the District after the riots that ensued on Jan. 6.
Besides Inauguration Day, here are some tech, biz and professional development-focused events happening in D.C. through January that will keep you off the streets and in front of your computer:
