PwC signed a lease for a DC office that spans more than 180K square feet

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has inked a deal for a 182,316-square-foot office space in the District.

The large professional services firm has a prominent DMV presence, with approximately 2,600 employees working across its four offices, two in Northern Virginia and two in D.C. The NoVa offices will stay open when the company moves into it’s new D.C. space at 655 New York Ave. NW in the spring of 2021, Managing Partner of the Mid-Atlantic Terri McClements told Technical.ly. McClements said up to 65% of its local staff will work from the new D.C. office, while the other employees will continue to work from the NoVa offices.

“The development of an innovative workspace in the heart of our nation’s capital helps ensure that our people have access to the tools and technology that will future-proof their careers, and in turn, our business,” said McClements.

The office space expansions follows a new initiative the company announced on Oct. 1. The “New world. New skills.” initiative is PwC’s $3 billion global investment in tech and individuals to “digitally disrupt” its business, clients and communities.

“In order to propel us into a digital future, businesses must rethink every aspect of how they operate and recognize the importance of reskilling their people,” she said.

As the new space gets designed, PwC employees are being included in the process to meet their needs. The company partnered with an independent assessor of workplace effectiveness to survey its employees on what type of support they need in the workplace to succeed.

“We’re thrilled about the response thus far, as [hundreds] have already submitted their survey responses in just 24 hours,” said McClements. “The excitement about the new office space is energizing and awesome!”

Overall, PwC employees working out of its D.C. office can expect to have access to experience-based design and tech to ensure their productivity and collaboration.

McClements said eventually, PwC will consolidate its five offices in the region to maintain two locations, one in D.C. and the other in Northern Virginia.
