Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge” — here at Technical.ly). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published in Philly; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Going local
Welcome to the first D.C./Maryland/Virginia (DMV) edition of This Week in Jobs aka TWIJ!
We feel the DMV love in the air and we are cised to bring you career news for the area. Native DMV peeps know that each area has its own unique vibe, but one thing we do have in common is our desire to move on up!
D.C. still tops the list as the second worst city for commuting, but maybe if you win that $750 million Powerball you can, uh … “work from home”? No matter what, we’re here to guide you through your career journey, especially if those Powerball dreams don’t quite happen this week.
The news
Baseball season is off to a great start, so let’s go Nats and Orioles! Speaking of the Orioles, if you do happen to win that Powerball or are already in the $4 million housing market, Cal Ripken Jr.’s old mansion is up for sale again. Fourteen bathrooms and a regulation-size baseball diamond in the backyard? Perhaps one of the following growing companies might want to make a workplace out of it …
User experience has become a growing focus at Baltimore based Asymmetrik, and UX lead Kristen Davis broke down the importance of UX with the success of the team’s suite of tools for us. To join this user-centric organization, check out the jobs awaiting you.
Acquisitions in D.C. are in full effect, with Acquicore, Industry Drive and Applied Insight making M&A moves to grow their business. Check out what that means for their bottom lines and their headcounts.
Emily Dresner, CTO of D.C.’s Upside Travel, talked to us about her role leading the platform’s technical strategy, as well as how her team is rethinking the way businesses book travel.
