The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership announced its summer schedule of outdoor movies, happy hours, yoga and ping-pong this week, with events nearly every day this summer.
The program is called Summer @ MetroTech, and will take place in and around Downtown Brooklyn’s MetroTech Center.
With all the offerings, we wonder if the area, which is already a tech hotbed in Brooklyn, will rise to a new level. Small startups might see the offerings as perks for their employees, free for the companies, just by the fact of being based in Downtown Brooklyn or Dumbo. What kind of a difference for the area could that make?

The MetroTech is already a center of the Brooklyn tech world, with numerous tech and digital firms based there, including Makerbot, NPower and Slate. It’s also home, of course, to NYU’s engineering school, NYU Tandon.
