Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and U.S. Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger will address attendees at the CyberMaryland conference later this week, Department of Business and Economic Development Secretary Dominick Murray announced.
The pair will deliver opening remarks on Thursday morning, the first day of the two-day conference at the Baltimore Convention Center.

“Governor O’Malley launched the CyberMaryland initiative in January 2010 to position the state as the epicenter of cybersecurity,” Murray said in a release. “Since then, both Congressman Ruppersberger and Governor O’Malley have worked diligently to ensure that the United States addresses the challenges and embraces the opportunities presented by cybersecurity.”
Speakers at the conference will also include University of Maryland, Baltimore County president Freeman Hrabowski; Emerging Technology Centers Executive Director Deb Tillett; and National Security Agency Director Adm. Michael S. Rogers.
“Cybersecurity is one of the country’s top priorities and an area of tremendous growth and potential for individuals, investors and entrepreneurs,” Jeffrey Wells, DBED’s executive director of cyber development, said in the release. “For those interested in any aspect of cybersecurity — whether protecting data, detecting intrusions, developing technologies, connecting with investors, or exploring career opportunities — the CyberMaryland conference is a one-stop shop.”
Registration is still available for no charge to government employees and $395 for industry participants.
