Comcast, NFL donate $10K to Woodrow Wilson Middle School

On the occasion of Comcast‘s annual day of service, the cable and Internet provider teamed up with the NFL Network to donate $10,000 to Northeast Philadelphia’s Woodrow Wilson Middle School. The school can use the $5,000 from Comcast for anything, while the NFL’s $5,000 Play60 afterschool sports program.

About 600 Comcast employees, City Year volunteers and other community members helped spruce up Woodrow Wilson, a public school in the Castor section of the Northeast. They painted mural sand picked up trash around the school area. Comcast chose Woodrow Wilson because of its partnership with City Year, said spokeswoman Dennille Shuler.

It was part of Comcast Cares Day, held on April 26 this year, Comcast’s annual day of service. Four thousand volunteers participated in the Philadelphia area, Shuler said, and more than 80,000 Comcast volunteers participated around the world.
