WHO’S GETTING FUNDED

The Merkle Group sold $2 million in equity, according to an SEC filing. The Columbia-based digital marketing agency also recently acquired Seattle-based digital analytics firm Pointmarc, and announced a strategic partnership with marketing software maker Tealium.

6th Street, Inc. sold $300,000 in debt, according to an SEC filing. The company, based of ETC’s Haven campus, makes cloud-based commerce management software called SalesWarp.

Columbia-based CESI Technologies, Inc., sold $325,000 in equity, according to an SEC filing.

WHO’S MAKING MOVES

OrderUp continued to fill out its senior ranks with corporate experience, naming Susannah Bennett as Vice President of Legal and Corporate Secretary for the on-demand food delivery company. Bennett most recently worked for Marriott International, where she was Vice President and Senior Counsel. She also worked in executive roles for Baltimore-based Educate Inc. and Sylvan Learning Inc. At OrderUp, Bennett will be focused on “mergers and acquisitions, corporate, contracts, litigation, franchising, and regulatory compliance,” the company says.

Parking Panda launched its new PandaScan technology in Baltimore this week. With the system, drivers get a QR code that they can use to access a parking spot they reserved on Parking Panda’s app. The idea is to cut out the need for a parking attendant, and give drivers access to spots they book as they please. The company rolled out the technology in its hometown of Baltimore, and four other cities.

Yet Analytics was happy to find a reference to xAPI in the recently-released U.S. Department of Education EdTech Developer’s Guide. The ETC-based startup uses ExperienceAPI, which was developed by the Department of Defense, as the basis of its data analytics platform, Yet Core. Within edtech, the guide notes that xAPI could be used to help collect different kinds of data about online learning activities. Yet is heavily involved in the emerging xAPI community. The company will be at a hackathon centered around the Internet of Things this weekend at Montgomery County’s Thingstitute.

Red Owl Analytics formed a strategic partnership with Daegis. As part of the partnership, Irving, Texas-based Daegis will use RedOwl’s Reveal cybersecurity software to protect its data storage platform against insider threats. The Daegis Information Governance Platform archives “email, instant messages, social media, file system documents, and essentially all structured and unstructured data into a single repository,” the company says.

WHO’S GETTING BUZZ

The Daily Record’s 20 in Their Twenties list is out. This year’s list features Margaret Roth, cofounder of Yet Analytics and EdTechWomen, and Groove Senior Paid Advertising Manager Katie Carlson.
