Comoto Holdings, the parent company of RevZilla that was born from a partnership with private equity firm J.W. Childs in 2016, has made its third acquisition of 2020: a Colorado-based tech company that connects a global community of powersports enthusiasts through a free app and website.

The app, called REVER, shows users how to discover places to ride or drive, track activities, and share experiences. The acquisition is a further expansion into the digital world within the riding community, the company said Monday. Comoto acquired Texas-based J&P Cycles back in January, and an LA-based content creation team back in February to launch a West Coast satellite office for media.

REVER’s app and website uses GPS to let users plan and track a trip and connect with other riders. It has a basic, free version and a premium version for $4 a month.

“Comoto’s commitment to the powersports industry goes beyond providing high-quality gear and best-in-class customer service; we’re looking through the curve for ways to foster a more engaged and better-served community of riders, and to help ensure a continued bright future for the industry,” Comoto CEO Ken Murphy, who took over the company in August 2019, said in a statement.

REVER cofounder Justin Bradshaw said the two companies have a shared commitment to enhancing the rider experience as well as the riding community. The companies teamed up over the summer for a campaign called “The Ride is Calling”: Riders used the app to track their rides while raising a collective $100,000 for three motorcycle-centric organizations.

“We think life is better when there’s a motorcycle in it, and we use thoughtful technology to make powersports more enjoyable, accessible, and safer for everybody,” Bradshaw said of the acquisition.

As with the other acquisitions Comoto has made, REVER will remain its own brand, and its Colorado-based staff will join Comoto’s business development team.

Financial details were not disclosed.

“Our mission is to serve the rider, fuel the industry, and inspire the community, and it’s clear that REVER was founded with a similar purpose in mind,” Murphy said. “The inclusion of REVER into the Comoto Family of Brands platform further advances our mission and opens up an entirely new set of strategic opportunities to better serve riders.”

Motorcycle ecommerce company RevZilla was founded in 2007 and is based in the Navy Yard.
