Comoto Holdings, the holding entity of both Navy Yard ecommerce company RevZilla and West Coast-based Cycle Gear, announced Friday that it had acquired Texas-based J&P Cycles.

The first two companies initially came together in 2016 in a confusing-at-the-time joint venture with a private equity firm that later came to be known as Comoto Holdings. The parent company got a new CEO, Ken Murphy, last summer, a few months after Murphy joined the board of Comoto.

Now that parent company has picked up another retail brand, J&P Cycles, retailer of aftermarket products for the American V-Twin rider. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

J&P will continue to operate as its own retail brand, and its founder, Zach Parham, will join the executive team at Comoto as president of J&P Cycles, Comoto said in a statement. He is not planning to relocate to Philadelphia, a Comoto spokesperson said.

It’s not immediately clear if or how the news will affect local employees of Comoto, which names Philadelphia as its home in press releases.

“J&P Cycles was built on obsession with customer service and offering the best product selection for riders,” Parham said in a statement. “Comoto shares these same values. Each retail brand in the Comoto Family has complementary strengths and we are excited to leverage those strengths, to take J&P Cycles to the next level.”

With the deal finalized, efforts are underway to integrate J&P Cycles into the Comoto platform.

“As a platform for many of the industry’s most storied retail brands, our commitment to our customers is to preserve the legacy brand-attributes that matter most to them, while also unlocking the full selection, service, and savings benefits our customers deserve when shopping within the Comoto Family of Brands,” Murphy said.
