Happy National Apprenticeship Week, Philly!
Often thought of as a staple of trade careers, apprenticeship programs are becoming increasingly important for companies looking for new talent in STEM, too. They give participants industry-level experience and sometimes offer certifications. By teaching skills that would otherwise involve cost-prohibitive measures like attending college, apprenticeships are building pathways for people from nontraditional backgrounds into tech jobs.

Youth Apprenticeship Program Highlight: Medical Assistant Apprenticeship
ApprenticeshipPHL will host a virtual fireside chat with the team behind the Medical Assistant Youth Apprenticeship at Universal Audenried Charter School and staff from the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship. A close look at youth apprenticeship models, the local apprenticeship ecosystem will be among the topics of discussion.

GSK Apprentice Program Webinar
Pharma corporation GlaxoSmithKline will discuss their apprenticeship program in this webinar. Apprentices in their program learn about manufacturing, logistics and more. Upon completing the program, participants obtain an industry-recognized certificate of completion training credential from the Department of Labor.

The Future of Work: Tech Apprenticeships Are the Solution for Tomorrow’s Workforce
This virtual discussion from the Consumer Technology Association will feature professionals from T-Mobile, Alarm.com and Bosch. Experts will discuss the role apprenticeships play at their companies in finding and keeping talent and how they can help create a more diverse, inclusive workforce as the economy rebounds from the pandemic.

Find Your Future: Apprenticeship Week Philly 2020 — Pre Apprenticeships
In this F.A.S.T. Foundation webinar presented in partnership with the likes of Philadelphia Works, the School District of Philadelphia and other stakeholders, high school students and young adults will learn about pre-apprenticeship opportunities from representatives at local programs, including healthcare, IT and advanced manufacturing.

Medical Assistant Apprentice Induction Ceremony & Roundtable Discussion
American Training Center and Cooper University Health Care will celebrate the induction of their first Medical Assistant Apprenticeship cohort with this virtual ceremony. A roundtable discussion about growing healthcare apprenticeship programs will follow the ceremony.
