Play some locally made video games at Philly Game Mechanics’ first Indie Arcade

Formerly known as Philly Dev Night, the recently-rebranded nonprofit Philly Game Mechanics is hosting an evening of Philly-made games next week.

Indie Arcade is a free event happening Nov. 3 at Colorspace Labs in Kensington, with a slate of Philly-made video games

“We’re hoping that we can bring out a lot of people and provide them with both enjoyment and insight to the great indie games made in Philadelphia,” organizer Shawn Pierre said in an email.

Here’s the lineup of games you’ll be able to try your hand at:

• The Come Up, by Brotherly: A 3D action adventure game that can be experienced in VR.
• Hastilude, by Ghost Crab Games: A vibrant, fast paced four-player brawl.
• Vive Pong, by Alison Rosenzweig: Like that great old arcade classic but one player plays in VR using the HTC Vive against a player using standard controls.
• Sole, by Gossamer Games: an abstract, aesthetic-driven adventure game where you play as a source of light in a darkened world.
• Disco Ships, by Whiteboard Game Studios: A four-player space battle with crazy power ups and funky tunes.
• Why Are We Running?, by Flyclops: Flee from an angry mob while dodging deadly obstacles.

Art from the video games will also be for sale at the event, along with live music and, we’re told, some rather curious drink options.
