SmartyPAL is like those Choose Your Own Adventure paperbacks, but without any of the old school page flipping.
The team behind the series of interactive children’s books for the iPad launched its first app, ZooPAL, last week. The apps from SmartyPAL, which stands for Play, Apply, Learn, are for preschoolers.

SmartyPAL comes from husband and wife pair Kartik Hosanagar, 36, an angel investor and Wharton professor, and Prasanna Krishnan, 34, who has worked at Comcast, travel website Jetsetter and a Silicon Valley venture capital firm, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Hosanagar is also on Monetate‘s board of advisors and an investor in RJMetrics, according to his Crunchbase page.
Student-run outsourced product development organization VenturePact helped to develop SmartyPAL.
