Dallas Dance takes role with digital education institute

Dallas Dance will have a new role with a California-based research firm focusing on digital education.
Dance resigned as superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools in April, and his tenure officially ends Friday. He served in the role for five years, and technology was among his focus areas. He started efforts to introduce technology to classrooms. Most prominent was an effort to purchase tablets for every student, which got lots of national attention. He was also a frequent speaker in Baltimore on digital learning.
The Center for Digital Education announced on Wednesday that Dance will be a senior fellow, joining a cohort of “experienced and respected state and local government practitioners and scholars who have demonstrated records of success in support of public service.” The fellows write papers and serve in an advisory role to private and public sector leaders.
“CDE is thrilled to add Dr. Dance’s experience and enthusiasm in our community and welcomes him to our Senior Fellows cohort,” a statement said.
