Baltimore’s Penn Station just got better WiFi

It was one of two stations nationwide where Amtrak made upgrades. Cool.

The next time you’re stuck waiting for a train at Penn Station, think of the fact that the internet is better than it used to be.
Amtrak said Tuesday that WiFi upgrades were recently completed at the station, replacing a system that was installed in 2010. Since better internet is cause to stand up, the train service also added a pair of high-top work tables. Both have charging outlets.
This better WiFi is a pilot program for Amtrak. Baltimore is one of only two stations in the nation that got better wireless internet. The other is Chicago’s Union Station.
Amtrak is set to oversee more upgrades at Penn Station. A shortlist of three potential developers to revamp the station was named in September, and the finalist is expected this fall.
