It sounds like city officials are reloading for another attempt to implement technology that’s designed to help police pinpoint the location of gunfire.
The Baltimore Sun reports the city received a $370,000 federal grant, and is putting out a competitive bid for the gunshot detection system. Bids are due by Aug. 10.

Gunshot detection systems utilize acoustic sensors placed on poles or buildings, and analysis software that alerts police. Instead of relying on 911 calls reporting gunfire, the direct info fed to police by the system means officials can immediately respond.
Early last year, the city backed off plans to install a gunshot detection system called ShotSpotter in East and West Baltimore.
