Michael Phelps just invested in this Baltimore razor company

The Olympic legend will also be the pitchman for 800razors.com.

Michael Phelps apparently sees a winner at the intersection of ecommerce and shaving.
The most decorated swimmer in Olympic history bought into 800razors.com recently, and will now serve as the company’s spokesperson. Phelps invested an undisclosed amount in the company, and is now a shareholder.
While it may seem a little random to land lovers, the business relationship underscores a reality of Phelps’ sport:
“As a swimmer, shaving my entire body is necessary for performance,” Phelps said in a press release announcing the deal. “The Ultimate Shave razors and shave cream truly makes a difference in protecting my skin and giving me that close comfortable shave I want and need in and out of the pool.”
The release says Phelps got turned onto the company’s razors during the recent U.S. Nationals meet, where he posted top times in the world this year. Despite a DUI in Baltimore last year, the swimmer is looking to return to the Olympics in 2016.
Phelps also liked that 800razors.com gives back. The company provides job opportunities for people with developmental disabilities through the Baltimore nonprofit Chimes.
