The Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Central Library is undergoing major renovations. And with that will come new technology.
The $114 million project will make improvements to the physical structure of the Cathedral Street building, which dates to the 1930s. The project is also designed to “complement the Pratt’s significant print collection with the latest technologies,” according to the library’s website for the renovation project.
After checking out the renderings, we set out to find out a little bit more about the technology that’s coming to the library.
Enoch Pratt Free Library Communications Director Roswell Encina told us that the upgrades will feature technology learning labs and a highly-equipped A/V lab.
A new feature will also include “creation stations” for kids and adults. The library is also looking to feature more computers and mobile devices.
The technological offerings will continue to evolve as the 2019 completion date gets closer, as the library will be buying technology that’s up-to-date with the times, Encina said. We’ll be keeping an eye on the specs as the project evolves.
