While you were inside on Tuesday, a drone was flying over Baltimore filming the snow-covered city.
A few months after releasing this breathtaking drone video of Baltimore, Matthew Coakley used Winter Storm Octavia as a chance to revisit Charm City.
The appetite for aerial winter video was already there, judging by Reddit’s response to Baltimore Police photos from a winter Foxtrot flyover. Though Coakley doesn’t have any authority to help with police investigations, the latest video one-ups those pics with crisp 4K video and a nifty soundtrack.
The footage shows Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Johns Hopkins University, the Washington Monument and other familiar Baltimore sights, all doused in snow.
It was shot Feb. 16-17, using a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter and a GoPro HERO4 camera.
“The majority of the footage was shot in 4K,” Coakley writes. “Because I was trying to do a quick turnaround on this, and 4K is difficult for my computer to handle, I mastered this in 1080p. Otherwise I’d have been doing a lot of waiting around while clips took a long time to render.”
