Who’s getting buzz?
OrderUp apologized after a Reddit post questioned the Canton startup’s practice of slapping stickers on street poles in Canton, Fells Point and Federal Hill, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. CEO Chris Jeffery said in a statement the company will cut back on sticker handouts and cut a $500 check to the Maryland Food Bank.
Rich Reiter, who joined Planit as creative director in July, spoke to the Baltimore Business Journal about his plans in the role. Reiter, an industry veteran, has run campaigns for the likes of Hyundai and McDonald’s.
Who’s getting funded?
The IT firm iNovex Information Systems, based in Hanover, sold just over $4 million in equity, according to an SEC filing.
New Baltimore Development Corporation president Bill Cole this week detailed a 54-page economic development strategy plan, The Baltimore Sun reports. The plan would boost a city loan program for startups by $500,000, increase incentives for small and midsize businesses to the tune of $4 million a year and attract 13 international companies. A couple such international companies — Indian-owned Lupin Pharmaceuticals and Germany’s Deutsche Bank — have their names atop prominent downtown buildings.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake named acting CTO L. Jerome Mullen the permanent leader of the Mayor’s Office of Information Technology, as Technical.ly Baltimore first reported.
