Who’s getting funded?
Allovue raised $800,000, according to SEC filings. The Hollins Market edtech startup, an AccelerateBaltimore graduate, was recently part of the second class of startups at Socratic Labs in New York.
The Maryland Venture Fund took part in a $5 million round of funding led by New Jersey-based Edison Ventures in Salsa Labs, according to a release. Salsa offers online organizing and fundraising tools for nonprofits. The startup and its 50 employees will move to Montgomery, Prince George’s or Frederick county, The Baltimore Sun reports.
The Kresson-based health startup emocha Mobile Health raised $50,000 in equity, according to SEC filings.
Who’s making moves?
Chris Tonjes, director of the Mayor’s Office of Information Technology, resigned Monday, as Technical.ly Baltimore first reported. Tonjes, who had been at his post since 2012, was put on administrative leave in March in connection with a fraud investigation into his office by the city inspector general. Tonjes denies wrongdoing. Tonjes’ deputy, Jerome Mullen, will continue to run the office as acting director.
