The National Science Foundation has awarded $75,000 to Charles Nicholas, a professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, “to help support the project aimed to investigate so-called exploit kits, which are used to create harmful software through an automated process,” according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
Nicholas, advisor of UMBC’s Cyber Defense Team, and his students will use the funds over the next year.
