This is a friendly reminder that people love maps: they map locations of biotech firms in Maryland and business incubators.
The map is also a convenient way to acknowledge what is becoming increasingly better known: Maryland state owns cybersecurity.

  • More than 19,000 jobs in cybersecurity exist in this state, according to the first Maryland Cyber Jobs Report.
  • Of those jobs, some 13,000 are in the Baltimore region alone.

As Technically Baltimore previously reported, Governor Martin O’Malley has been on record, including during last year’s CyberMaryland conference, saying he wants Maryland to become the “epicenter of cybersecurity.”
The CyberMaryland initiative itself is a public-private partnership, albeit one that was founded by the governor and relies largely on state funding.
