A big box computer store is plugging into an even bigger box in Sunset Park. Micro Center is going in at Liberty View. The suburban electronics stronghold is coming into Brooklyn. More on Crain’s:
Micro Center, a growing electronics retailing chain, will hold a soft opening for its newest store on March 10 at 850 Third Ave. in Brooklyn, just a half block from the Gowanus Expressway and about the same distance from the Gowanus Bay. The store will be a whopping 35,000-square-foot affair in a property now called Liberty View Industrial Plaza. For many years the building was owned by the federal government until the city’s Economic Development Corp. gained control of it via a complex transaction. EDC then issued several rounds of requests for proposals. In 2011, Salmar Properties carried the day with a winning bid of $10 million.
