ALX Community, an Alexandria, Va.-based shared office space and coworking community, announced that it is opening its second location in the city’s Old Town area at 201 N. Union Street. The 25,000 square-foot space is set to open by October.
The 106,000-square-foot building is currently 75 percent occupied, a press release states, and will be at capacity once ALX moves in. The building is owned by Boundary Companies, a Chevy Chase, Md.-based private investment management firm.
“The building’s water views, functional floor plates, high ceiling heights, and access to Old’s Town’s vibrant amenity base coupled with ALX’s high design and operating standards will certainly aid their member’s pursuit of potential,” Boundary Companies President John Wilkinson said in a news release. “We are excited to work with ALX Community and are looking forward to supporting them and their mission.”
The new location will overlook the waterfront and feature private offices, a conference center, dedicated desks and flex seating options. This expansion comes after ALX launched its first Old Town coworking space in April 2018 at 106 N. Lee Street, where 80 small businesses making up the 170-member community reside. ALX said in the press release that it welcomes entrepreneurs, small businesses, freelancers, financial professionals and nonprofit organizations.
