After its February launch, the Jefferson Education Accelerator announced its first member: Reston-based Echo360, a learning platform for lecture settings.
The accelerator will help Echo360 conduct research and scale its operations, for an undisclosed amount.
“Our review of its internal data shows strong evidence of significant impact on student engagement and outcomes,” said Jefferson Education Accelerator CEO Bart Epstein in a press release Wednesday.
The organization, based in D.C. and Charlotesville, seeks to help grow already established companies by promoting a research-driven approach to edtech.
“Through formal research and engagement with faculty, students, and administrators, JEA seeks to further document, validate, and communicate the impact of Echo360’s platform,” Epstein added.
Echo360 was founded in 2008 and is backed by Steve Case’s Revolution Growth Fund (to the tune of $31 million, according to a TechCrunch report).
The company operates on a licensing model and now reaches close to 3 million users, according to the release.
