Better hiring practices are critical to giving diversity in tech the boost it needs. We’ve heard this time and time again. And next week, a group often overlooked in the discussion of diversity in tech will be tackling that very subject.
On Aug. 31, veteran entrepreneur nonprofit Bunker Labs PHL is hosting an event called Hire and Be Hired, focusing on how recent veterans landed their current positions, but also what their company looks for in potential veteran hires.
Here’s the speaker lineup:
- Ed Carr, Senior Project Manger, Military & Veterans Affairs at Comcast (Army)
- Michael Hansen, Director Of Veterans Affairs at Power HRG (USMC)
- Dan La Hart, Sr. Consultant, Diversity & Inclusion at Lincoln Financial Group (USAF)

We’ve previously hear from Comcast on this issue: it has set a goal of hiring 100,000 veterans by the end of this year.
The event will also be an opportunity to get a first look at Benjamin’s Desk’s most recent Philly location atop the University Place 2.0 building in West Philly.
