Nineties-era San Antonio Spurs star and NBA hall of famer David Robinson has been added to the board of directors of Brown Advisory, the global investment management and strategic advisory firm based in Fells Point.
In addition to his sports legend status, Robinson is a cofounder investment firm called Admiral Capital — a play on his Naval Academy alum-derived nickname — and founder of San Antonio-based charter school Carver Academy.
Robinson and Brown Advisory have worked together since at least 2019, and now he will have a formal role in shaping the firm’s direction.
“He knows us well and has built strong relationships with our team through our work together on Blueprint Local, an Opportunity Zone strategy that David has played an integral role in guiding and developing in San Antonio, Austin and across Texas,” said Mike Hankin, president and CEO of Brown Advisory in statement. “Continually, he has demonstrated a willingness to challenge our views, which is something we expect and value from our directors.”
