Investor Wayne Kimmel joins board of Kimmel Center

No relation, we're told. Comcast CTO Tony Werner was also brought on.

The Kimmel Center’s board just got a tech infusion.
Investor Wayne Kimmel of SeventySix Capital and Comcast CTO Tony Werner joined the 37-person board, according to a press release. (Kimmel has no relation to Sidney Kimmel, the center’s namesake, a spokeswoman said.) They join fellow tech leaders like NewSpring Capital’s Mike DiPiano and former NuPathe CEO Jane Hollingsworth.
The Kimmel Center’s board is not compensated and the term lasts three years, a spokeswoman said. New board members are elected by current members.
Board appointments like these are another sign of the tech scene gaining prominence in the city’s more traditional halls of power. (For example, The Kimmel Center’s board includes law firm Cozen O’Connor President Thomas Decker and Harold Honickman, chairman of soda bottling and distribution company Honickman Group.) Remember when First Round Capital’s Josh Kopelman joined the board of the Philly papers?
