You may not have heard of Versogen, the growing green energy company based at the Delaware Innovation Space. But you have probably heard of it by its former name: W7Energy, the startup out of the University of Delaware founded by Yushan Yan (and 2020’s #1 RealLIST Startup for Delaware).
The company has announced a full rebrand, including the new name — a play on the words “versatility” and “hydrogen” — and an expanded mission to lower carbon emissions globally with its state-of-the-art electrolyzers designed to create zero-emission green hydrogen. Hydrogen, an efficient energy carrier used in many refining, processing and production industries, is currently created primarily with carbon-emitting technologies such as coal and steam.
“Our new name points to one of our core values: versatility,” Yan said in a statement. “Hydrogen is a versatile energy source with many applications, our young and dynamic team is versatile in developing pragmatic solutions to market needs, and our innovative energy technologies are versatile for use in a range of industries.”
Versogen has grown rapidly over the past two years, receiving more than $5 million in grants from multiple organizations, including:
