Tenable Network Security is continuing a recent trend of bringing in new faces with lots of experience in the senior ranks.
The Columbia-based cybersecurity company named its first Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Marketing Officer in an announcement issued Wednesday.

  • John Negron will serve as CRO. He previously worked in senior VP-level sales roles at Cisco and Columbia-based Sourcefire, which Cisco acquired in 2013. Negron helped to create the cybersecurity unit at Cisco, and led a team of 800 people in sales and engineering.
  • Jennifer Johnson joins as CMO. She comes to Tenable after a stint as the first CMO at San Francisco-based Tanium. She was also a partner at leading Silicon Valley VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, and held marketing leadership positions at CoverityHP Software, Mercury Interactive, Symantec and Veritas Software.

The hires come a couple of months after Tenable former RSA President Amit Yoran took the helm as the company’s CEO.
“John’s proven track record of driving revenue for a broad range of global security organizations will be invaluable as Tenable continues to outpace both the competition and the market in terms of growth,” Yoran said in a statement. “And Jennifer’s years of experience as a brand builder and storyteller in the enterprise software space will be a game changer for how Tenable pushes our brand out into the market.”
The company has been repositioning for its “next phase” after a whopping $250 million Series B in 2015. A new platform, Tenable.io, was unveiled during the RSA conference in San Francisco last month. The company says it has more than 21,000 customers in 20 countries.
