The US semiquincentennial celebration is just around the corner, and as we celebrate the past, we’re also looking ahead.

250 years ago, Pittsburgh was not yet a city but a contested region between Pennsylvania and Virginia, and primarily home to a fort built by rebel colonists – truly unrecognizable from the vibrant place we know today.

In another 250 years, Pittsburgh could be just as transformed. While we can’t predict the future, we can help guide the city toward an optimistic vision.

How will Pittsburgh adapt to new technologies and environmental changes? What will our neighborhoods look like, and which cultural staples will endure from the Pittsburgh we know today?

We’ve put together some ideas and now invite your thoughts. Please select your top choices from the multiple-choice questions below, and add your own comments to tell us what we missed.

The results will contribute to a draft vision statement to be published in early 2025.
