With nearly 600 job openings, Comcast was Philly’s most actively hiring company in April [REPORT]

The local job market has improved since this time last year, according to the report, which cites a 14 percent increase in the number of local jobs posted online. STEM jobs were also highly sought-after.

Comcast posted 599 Philly job openings online in April, the most of any local company, according to a report from City Controller Alan Butkovitz.

With 234 job openings posted, Urban Outfitters ranked fifth on the list of companies with the most job openings. While the report doesn’t note what kinds of jobs top employers were listing, last fall, Urban Outfitters was rapidly growing its ecommerce team. In September, it had an ecommerce team of about 300 and was looking to hire 50 more.

In April, employers were on the hunt for employees to fill STEM jobs. STEM positions clocked in at 2nd and 4th on a list of the top five jobs with the most “help-wanted” ads.

  1. Registered nurse: 1,276 listings
  2. Computer analyst: 762  listings 
  3. Marketing manager: 742 listings
  4. Web developer: 658 listings
  5. Management analysts: 622 listings
