From the Southside to Downtown, Pittsburgh has a variety of coworking options for remote employees or founders who need a space to get things done.
Many are locally owned. Some have a concentration on community, some on building a business, others on creation of goods. There are also a handful of desk and office options run by large umbrella companies, which come with reciprocal membership around the globe.

This North Side-based coworking space — the city’s largest, it boasts — offers flex desks, private offices, programming and discounted parking at Nova Place’s garage.
Cost: $30 for a day pass, $100 per month to drop in as you need, $315 for a dedicated desk, offices starting at $630 per month
Ascender
6401 Penn Ave.
As evidenced by its accelerator program, this East Liberty spot is built for entrepreneurs, but also welcomes freelancers and startup employees — and anyone else. In addition to desks, it offers educational programming and members-only events.

This outfit with two Downtown locations caters to young companies with options like virtual mailbox plus live call answering and low-cost suites for small teams. You can also stop by for flex desks available by the day, or pay for a private office with a river view.

In addition to being a volunteer-driven community made up of thousands of software professionals, this workspace offers treadmills, conference rooms, community learning events, and a space to work while getting to know others.

COHatch offers Wi-Fi, coffee, workshops, meeting rooms and even free use of the space to host events — anything ranging from a launch party to a wedding. Members can choose from a trio of locations: Shadyside, the Waterfront or SouthSide Works. Pricing varies according to how many hours you think you’ll be there.
Cost: $120 per month for a starter membership (20 hours + 1 hour of meeting room use), $199 for part-time (80 hrs + 3 hrs of meeting rooms), $270 for unlimited
Cube Creative Space

While Cube Creative offers fully furnished offices, the company encourages renters to make the space their own. There are no restrictions on when coworkers can come and go and the kitchenette includes free coffee.

Emerald City

This locally run, Black-owned coworking space in the Pitt Building offers reservable conference rooms, event space rentals, concierge services, curated programming, mail sorting and forwarding and a big concentration on community.
Cost: $150 per month for flex space plus priority booking of events, $250 per month for a dedicated desk
Expansive Golden Triangle
606 Liberty Ave.
Expansive has Chicago roots, but also now hosts a coworking space in a historic downtown Pittsburgh building. Amenities include lounge areas, phone booths and a place to safely store your bike after the commute.
Cost: A coworking membership costs $149 per month, with pricier options for dedicated desks and private offices. An access pass goes for $219 to try out the space for five days.
Field Day
3706 Butler St.
Located in Lawrenceville, Field Day operates a cafe located in the same unit as its coworking spaces. There’s even a rooftop deck, and flexibility to come early or stay late depending on your work style. You can also book a room for private events, work-related or not.
Cost: A day pass costs $25 per day, with memberships ranging from $250 to $375 per month depending on whether you want a private desk. Private offices are also available for rent.
Fulton Commons
1546 Fulton St.
This North Side coworking space that’s locally owned and operated boasts of its great natural light and furniture made of wood and natural materials. It also has a shared commercial kitchen for food-oriented entrepreneurs, and runs a packaged food incubator and accelerator.
Cost: $150 per month for unlimited communal space access, $220 per month for a dedicated desk, $450 per month for a private office
947 Coworking
947 Liberty Ave.
Named after its address, this space offers dedicated or flex desks and access to a Zoom/podcast room. There’s also a community message board.
Cost: $180 per month for flex desks, $350 per month for a dedicated spot
Liberty Bank Building
6101 Penn Ave.
Run by the same company as 947, this East Pittsburgh space has bike storage, privacy booths, offices, event spaces and private conference rooms. There’s also a drop-in option.
Cost: $40 per day, $180 per month for flex, $300 per month for a dedicated desk, $650 per month for a private office
North Shore Place I and II
322 N Shore Dr.
Built by Continental maintains office space in both Pittsburgh and Columbus, Ohio. North Shore Place’s new three-story buildings near PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium host coworking space near restaurants, retail and more. Bonus: Outside seating is available.
Cost: $49 per day for hot-desking, or $119 per month for a membership. A dedicated desk starts at $309 per month.
OneValley at the Roundhouse

This coworking space in a former steel mill at Hazelwood Green has desks, conference rooms, private offices, beer on tap, and is wheelchair accessible. It also has showers (in case your efforts have you working through the night?).

Paramount Film Exchange

A startup hub in the historic building that once was home to the Paramount Film distribution hub, this space offers a large common space, four conference rooms, two kitchens, and lots of offices. Bathrooms are ADA accessible.

Workspace Factory LLC

This Dormant-based space is all about private suites. Any person or company can sign up and receive a dedicated office plus access to a shared kitchen and shared conference room.

XFactory

Like its name implies, this Point Breeze space is located in a formal industrial warehouse, and along with office space, it still offers options for light industrial manufacturing. There’s an in-house CNC machine, plus a 2-ton crane and other fabrication tools.

The Downtown outpost from this national coworking space company offers wellness rooms, networking opportunities, office supplies, and 24/7 access. You can also book meeting rooms for a $75 hourly rate without joining as a member.
