According to the Verizon, the company has invested a total of nearly $54 million in establishing fiber-optic networks across Delaware, from “Wilmington to Dover to Seaford.”
About $53 million of that has been spent building out nearly 3,100 miles of fiber-optic network in the First State. Last year, Verizon infrastructure was expanded to reach over 5,700 new households in Marshalton, Newport and Elsmere.
The total $54 million includes part of a $270 million investment in the Tri-State region (which includes Philadelphia and Delaware) to build antenna systems in high-traffic areas.
“Delaware recognizes how competition and technology have changed the communications industry and has promoted forward-looking public policy that encourages investment and innovation,” said Paul Sullivan, president of Verizon’s Mid-Atlantic North region, in a press release.
