Autism Expressed CEO Michele McKeone joined nearly a dozen other founders last week at Google’s Pitch Playground event in Cambridge, Mass., in hopes of winning a portion of the $50,000 in prizes up for grabs. The event was focused on entrepreneurs developing technology for those with autism.
“Our pitch competition is meant to stimulate the development of novel technologies that improve quality of life and address the needs of people with autism,” said Dan Smith, vice president for innovative technologies for advocacy organization Autism Speaks.
McKeone, who recently quit her day job as a South Philadelphia High School special education teacher to pursue her edtech startup full time, did not ultimately win one of the three prizes.
Autism Expressed teaches digital literacy skills to youth with autism.
