Pixelligent raises $5.4 million [Startup Roundup]

Who’s getting funded?

Nanocrystal display maker Pixelligent, based at Holabird Industrial Park, landed more than $5.4 million in equity funding, according to an SEC filing. Some of the money will go toward growth in Asia and Europe, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.
 

Who’s making moves?

Betamore will have a new CEO. Jen Meyer, currently COO of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, takes the reins Jan. 5, as Technical.ly Baltimore first reported. Cofounder and outgoing CEO Mike Brenner will sit on the Federal Hill incubator’s board as it merges with the Greater Baltimore Technology Council and becomes a nonprofit.
Planit added two mobile tech clients: Annapolis-based Smartlink and Virginia-based Omnilertofficials there announced last week.
SmartLogic tapped LeAnne Matlach as its new director of marketing and community engagement, Matlach herself announced in a blog post on the Canton firm’s website. In August, we reported why SmartLogic was looking for someone like her.
You know the drill on this: OrderUp continues its hiring spree. Dana Gullard was named the Canton firm’s copywriter and social media coordinator, The Daily Record reports. Gullard previously worked at the Maryland Science Center and the Ritz Carlton Residences. Jesse Muniz was named marketing and fulfillment manager, joining the company from his own design studio.
 

Who’s getting buzz?

Tissue Analytics had a feature in the Baltimore Business Journal. The med-tech startup is prepping for a trial of its mobile app at hospitals, including Johns Hopkins Hospital. The app uses cell-phone pictures to track the progress of healing wounds.
