This Chicago scrum master bought a plane ticket to attend our tech jobs fair

The fourth edition of NET/WORK is set to be Philly’s biggest tech recruiting event yet. Last year, 600 people filled The Fillmore to meet over 70 companies. This year, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, it won’t be just Philly’s talent pool showing up in droves: scrum master Mark Moskovitz is flying in from his hometown of Chicago for the one-day event.

He’s already connected with our neighbors at Benjamin’s Desk at the Curtis Center, IT security dev firm Engine Room Technology, who gave us the tip. We caught up with Moskovitz to find out what he’s looking forward to on his trip to Philadelphia next month.

We dig Chicago and have reported on its tech community throughout the past year. How’d you catch wind of our event?

I heard about Technical.ly’s NET/WORK event through the Technical.ly website, which I follow to see what is going on in the East Coast tech communities. I’m considering a move East to be closer to family, and so the opportunity to meet many companies at once is super exciting.

It’s a big deal to fly from Chicago just for our one-day career fair. Why’s it worth it to you?

NET/WORK looks like a great opportunity for someone like me to fly in for in order to meet many companies at once, and then be able to continue the conversations. I have found that it is rather difficult to even start conversations with companies in another city, and NET/WORK is worth flying in for to see people in person.

I’m super excited to meet lots of companies all in one event. My plan is to talk to as many people as possible during the event, and hopefully, make some great connections.

As a certified scrum professional, what projects are you excited to pursue? What type of companies are you excited to learn about?

I’m super excited to meet companies that I can help grow their project management practices. I’m excited about companies that are building products that do good for their customers, neighborhoods, communities or the world.
