Zikria Syed is taking yet another stab at using tech to streamline clinical trials.
The founder of Conshohocken, Pa.-based health IT company NextDocs — which, btw, was eventually sold to Aurea Software in 2015 — started another company called VitalTrax based out of Drexel University’s and the Science Center’s Innovation Center @ 3401.
Under this banner, Syed is gunning to offer the life sciences space a cloud-based eCOA tool (that stands for Electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment), which will help doctors better assess the information coming from clinical trials.
The system gathers data from patients in a specific trial, and is able to display it correctly across mobile platforms.
MedCity News did a profile on the emerging startup:
Technology isn’t the be-all end-all of patient engagement, Syed acknowledged. But having a platform that treats patients like partners in clinical trials and improves the patient experience is a critical element in achieving this goal.
