Kensington coworking space Impact Hub announced a new executive director yesterday: Dominique Aubry, who used to work in business development for New York City-based startup workshop series Lean Startup Machine.
Aubry’s appointment feels like a symbol of Impact Hub’s intentions to stick around.
The organization, part of a national network of shared workspaces, took over the massive three-floor, 27,000-square-foot space when maker outfit 3rd Ward abruptly shut down last fall. Before Aubry, the space was run by Jeff Shiau, who was installed by the national Impact Hub to help get the space off the ground.
A Lehigh University grad who got her masters at Penn, Aubry has other ties to the city. She worked at the Philadelphia School District as a facilities contract manager and in the Nutter administration’s Managing Director’s Office.
